K-LOVE Radio’s new 169,000-SF multi-media headquarters is an expression of this non-profit’s faith-based values. The facility includes a variety of unique spaces such as broadcast studios, content capture studios, a 1,100-seat performance space, a history gallery, and extensive employee amenities.
Project Statement
K-LOVE / EMF is a multi-media organization which includes over 1,000 broadcast signals across all 50 states. They expressed a desire for their new facilities to be an outward expression of their faith-based values. In response, the building design is inspired by the Ancient Greek interpretations of time: Chronos and Kairos. Chronos refers to measured, sequential, and quantifiable time while Kairos refers to moments of transformational intervention. In the façade design, Chronos is expressed through the consistent, vertical rhythm while the moments of Kairos are expressed as unpredictable, irregular, chamfered recesses, resulting in dynamic movement in the overall facade. Stepped pre-cast concrete chamfers create depth in the façade, highlighting the life altering moments of Kairos.
As a Christian-based organization, K-LOVE believes the ultimate example of Kairos is the resurrection of Jesus. This is even memorialized in how the measurement of time—Chronos—shifted from BC to AD. During the crucifixion of Jesus, the “veil of the temple” was torn in two (Matthew 27:51). Expressed as a sculptural bronze fissure in the facade, this ultimate moment of Kairos splits the measured façade, bending the massing on each side, providing an entry into a light filled lobby.
Internally, the building supports a diverse array of programmatic needs. Spaces include an 1,100-seat performance venue, on-air broadcast studios, content capture studios, pod-cast and editing suites, a full data center, meeting rooms, and offices of various sizes.
Set within a wooded, sloped 10-acre site, the campus integrates natural landscapes with reflective outdoor spaces. A carved courtyard below the building offers pre-function space and a contemplative retreat—reinforcing K-LOVE’s mission to foster connection, worship, and moments of quiet transformation.

Design for Integration
The K-LOVE headquarters exemplifies holistic integration of purpose, concept, and performance. The architectural narrative—anchored in the theological concepts of Chronos and Kairos—shapes both form and experience. This overarching vision aligns with K-LOVE’s mission to foster spiritual transformation and connection, translating a profound narrative into a tactile, spatial experience that elevates the organization's identity and inspires its users. The concept binds architectural form, spiritual significance, and organizational mission. The building is designed as a unifying campus, reflecting both operational efficiency and symbolic cohesion.
A quiet fissure interrupts the composed façade—its presence suggesting a moment when the veil is lifted and what was once separate is made accessible. The gesture echoes a deeper narrative of revelation and presence.
The architecture moves between rhythm and rupture—regular forms recall the passage of time, while sharp recesses and shifting planes mark moments of transformation. These contrasts give form to the layered nature of time itself: Chronos and Kairos
Design for Discovery
The headquarters functions as both a workplace and a spiritual center. The architecture invites introspection, symbolic interpretation, and shared storytelling—especially through the sculptural elements at the entrance that express theological narratives. The design reveals deeper meanings through interaction. Symbolic design features promote reflection and encourage ongoing spiritual and architectural discovery.
Design for Resources
The precast concrete panels not only serve as a durable, load-bearing structure for the worship center but also perform as an effective sound barrier, minimizing noise from the nearby highway and ensuring an acoustically sensitive space for reflection and worship.
Sourcing Gate Precast from Ashland City, TN, and utilizing prefabrication methods significantly reduce waste, underscoring the project’s commitment to resource efficiency.
Design for Wellbeing
Generous pre-function spaces, including a state-of-the-art 1,100-seat performance venue, create opportunities for worship and communal experiences, enhancing both social interaction and well-being.
In a workplace where spiritual and emotional care is part of the daily rhythm, this landscaped path offers more than a means of passage—it becomes a restorative pause for those who provide support to others.
The contemplative valley culminates at the veil composed of Muntz bronze, its surface slowly patinating over time, a living material expression of Chronos and Kairos.
Design for Energy
Deep architectural chamfers provide passive solar shading that reduces heat gain on full-height glazing. This integrated design move cuts energy use while preserving the transparency and openness of the interior experience.
