Dale Brackeen, AIA

E. Dale Brackeen II, AIA, NCARB, LEED, is a Nashville-born architect whose career has been deeply rooted in his hometown. After receiving a Bachelor of Architecture from University of Tennessee College of Architecture Design in 2008 he began his career in the Perkins+Will Atlanta office. Dale returned to his hometown in 2011 and joined the Dryden Architecture and Design studio in 2014 where he is currently a part of the firm leadership as a Director. He leads complex projects ranging from adaptive reuse, historic preservation, residential, and commercial developments, leveraging his resourcefulness and creative vision to shape Nashville’s evolving built environment. He is known for his ability to balance creative vision with technical execution, guiding teams and clients through complex design challenges. His commitment to the discourse of design and meaningful community relationships is evident in his thoughtful design leadership and mentorship within Dryden’s Nashville studio as well as serving on AIA committees.

What do you see as the value of AIA?


Advocacy and exposure of the profession to a broader audience. A good platform to network and raise the bar for the design profession with colleagues. All of these items lead to innovation in the industry.


Why are you interested in serving on the Board?


Would like to serve a bigger role in shaping the future of profession in the middle Tennessee area. The region is rapidly changing. Working on board like this is crucial to ensuring the change is for a better and brighter future for Middle Tennessee.


What do you wish to contribute as a Board Member?


From my professional experience, I hope to bring a strong voice in advocacy and strategic thinking to the board. Helping guide initiatives that elevate the role of architects in our communities. I’m committed to being an active, engaged participant, ready to support or lead committees, especially in areas aligned with advocacy, emerging professionals, or chapter programming.

I also see value in being a representative of our membership. Ensuring the board stays connected to the needs and voices of all members. By being present, responsive, and collaborative, I aim to help strengthen our chapter’s impact and relevance across the region.
